FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!
Remember, we are here to help. We are quite happy to process you own files, however, they do need to conform to some basic standards. It is just as easy to to do the job correctly first time as it is to do it incorrectly. Just having the design specs will save you considerable time.
When designing your file just save it in a format that is accepted the world over. This is a PDF, most programs you use to design with are capable of saving to this format. We generally do not accept other types of files.
Print ready simply means a file is in the correct format (PDF) and it has the required bleed and quiet areas, and of course the correct resolution and colour setting.
Well, if you want your design to print cleanly you need to use the correct settings. There are two types used for designing. RGB is the type used for websites and for use on the internet, and generally is quite low resolution for screens. For print you must use CMYK with a minimum resolution of 300dpi. Be careful of designing in RGB then trying to convert to CMYK, this tends to lead to over-saturation and you file may not be accepted..
This often happens when you use RGB settings to design and then try to convert to CMYK. Any black text should always be black, unfortunatley RGB cannot understand 'black' so tries to create it using as much of every colour it can, thus causing over-saturation.
